Meet the team

Samuel Lee

With a solid history in the UK Submarine Service, Sam comes to the project with extensive project management experience across the shipping and water waste industries.  Having joined the Malin Group under their Cleanship offering, Sam joined the SMTP project in July 2019 as Business Unit Manager.  He will harness his skills and experience to transform the site into an innovation hub for the marine industry in Scotland.

Paul Dumble

Paul Dumble is a Chartered Waste and Resource Manager, bringing over 30 years of experience to this role having started in 1988 in the design and development of pollution control and natural remediation techniques that were applied to industrial and oil sites across the UK. He is a member of the Chartered Environmentalists Soil and Stones Group, and played a key role in the early master planning for the land clearance and preparation of Olympic 2012 site in London. Paul has worked extensively in the Middle East developing large-scale oil remediation projects and brings a wealth of experience in the development of best practices utilising natural soil remediation processes.

George Paschke

George is an established Project Director and has over 30 years’ experience in the areas of contaminated land assessment and remediation, waste management, risk management, renewable energy and clean technologies, environmental management, energy management, sustainable construction, resource efficiency, circular economy strategies and business development. George provides strategic and technical advice on a range of projects. Clients include Scottish Enterprise, Local Authorities, Scottish Development International, Scottish Government, Social Housing Associations and private clients such as Mactaggart and Mickel, Miller Homes, Laing O’Rourke, Hart Builders, CBRL, Keir Homes and EDI. George has previously worked on the investigation and remediation of Reddingmuirhead, Falkirk, Former ICI Explosive Works.

Ian Laidlaw

Ian comes to the SMTP with extensive experience across a number of complex projects in the marine sector. With a solid civil engineering background, coupled with significant project management experience, Ian is a real asset to the team, joining as associate director. Ian has a vast amount of experience in Port Infrastructure projects and similar developments on the river Clyde (Subsea 7), as well as over 30 year’s experience in Civil Engineering and Project Management. Some previous projects include: Subsea 7, Glasgow – £5.5 million new build Welding Development Centre plus refurbishment of existing offices and workshops Peterhead Port Authority – £28.5 million Smith Embankment & Outer Harbour Development.

Dr Gavin Scott MIEnvSc

Following on from an academic career at the University of Aberdeen department of Plant and Soil Science and Michigan State University, Gavin has pursued a career in professional consultancy with 15 years’ experience focusing on land quality, ground investigation, contamination risk assessment and remediation. Gavin has been involved with the SMTP since Malin’s acquisition of the site, bringing with him specific skills and experience within detailed assessment of contaminated land site investigations and the design of remediation schemes. This is coupled with a strong background in chemistry, biology and ecology, making Dr Scott a key asset in the successful development of the park.
